Ailbhe Mc Gowran is an emerging artist currently living in Cork and studying to become an Art Teacher.

Her passions include sewing, craft making, upcycling and the environment.

She graduated with a Bachelor's in Sculpture and Combined Media from the Limerick School of Art and Design in 2022, where she spearheaded exhibits and their marketing throughout the course including building websites for projects and her class graduation exhibition.

During her bachelor's she took several workshops, including welding, casting, clay, photography, projection, printing, animation, book making and notably performance art with Nigel Rolfe and Amanda Coogan, eventually becoming part of the BBeyond performance group (online during the pandemic).

Since graduating, she has undertaken a 21-week welding course in order to create metal works, getting certified in MIG, TIG and Stick welding, bringing her practice to a different area of interest, as well as diving into short workshops such as stained glass and mosaic.

Being from an Irish background and having lived in the South of France for 16 years, she considers herself multinational and is passionate about learning languages, traveling, other people and cultures. She is fluent in French, English and recently acquired a B1 Certificate in Spanish.

In the last few years, she has been working at SPRAOI as an art technician and teaching in St Kieran's College in Kilkenny covering a maternity leave which has led her to pursue her Masters in Education delivered jointly by UCC and MTU.

​

She has spent the last year successfully battling Stage 3 Breast Cancer while always staying creative and positive.

​

Ailbhe Mc Gowran is also the producer of the New Ross Comedy Club, where every two months they host comedians from all over the country to different venues across town.
